Emily's Dress
We wanted a traditional manor style wedding and I waited until we found the perfect wedding venue for us before choosing my dress style as I wanted the dress to be in keeping with the venue.
I don’t even know where to start with Lisa. She is an incredibly talented dressmaker who was able to design and make an elaborate wedding dress for me that I never thought was even possible!
When we started planning our wedding, having a dress made was never on the agenda. Using Instagram, I found some designers I liked and found bridal boutiques in London that stocked them. After visiting a number of boutiques, I narrowed down two dresses from two different designers that I really loved however what I loved was the bodice of one and the skirt of the other. I kept looking to see if I could find a dress that would combine the two and also spoke to the boutiques to see if either of them would be able to help. However I couldn’t find what I wanted and having anything bespoke done to either dress had a huge price tag.
Thinking I would have to settle for one of the dresses, I decided to try a dressmaker but didn’t expect much as I thought what I wanted was either impossible or too pricey. That’s when I met Lisa! From the first conversation I had with her, I knew I was in capable hands. I showed her the two dresses I liked and from that she designed the dress of my dreams! And then Lisa opened my eyes to the world of dressmaking and how clever she really was. She sent me lots of different samples of laces, beading and materials and together we picked the ones we liked. The dress ended up being made up of [ x number – I can’t remember!! ] of different laces that Lisa was able to combine to make it look like one seamless design.
Our wedding which was planned for 2020 unfortunately had to be postponed due to COVID. Throughout this time, Lisa kept in touch and was so patient throughout all our reschedules (3 in total!). She was so flexible and understanding and worked on my dress bit by bit even doing FaceTime calls to give me updates during the pandemic. She made sure I was happy with all the lace placements and aspects of the design.
When we finally got around to a wedding date we thought was going to go ahead in May 2022, Lisa finished off my dress, even making alterations right up to the week before the wedding.
I still remember when I put my dress on at her studio for the final time and everything was just as how I had imagined back in 2019. I am still in awe how she was able to make my dream dress actually become a reality including a heavily appliqued 2.5m train!
I really couldn’t recommend Lisa enough and loved working with her. She made me feel so amazing on the day being able to wear such a stunning dress. Outside of the dress, Lisa also made me a bespoke veil and tailored my bridesmaids dresses.
I just wish I could wear my dress everyday!
