Tanisha's Dress

We wanted a traditional manor style wedding and I waited until we found the perfect wedding venue for us before choosing my dress style as I wanted the dress to be in keeping with the venue.

Tanisha's wedding day

Classic black tie and all white; white flowers, white draping in the atrium, I wanted really classic and fresh. My inspiration was really just a lovely white wedding, the actual day was described by many as Bridgerton vibes, which wasn’t what I was intentially going for but I love that it was!

We aren’t religious so we went with a celebrant which felt more personal and right for us, as well as more engaging (as she shared our story) than a traditional wedding. The entrance steps were adorned with huge white floral arrangements and we reused those for the atrium entrance stairs. I wanted high vases with flowers so that people could see eachother around the table and not be blocked off with loads of foliage. We had white roses on the top table with floating candles in glass.

My bouquet was a tear drop bouquet with roses, dainty calla lilies, orchids, lisianthus and spray roses, adding also a little lacy gypsophila to complement my dress. Alpes de Huez roses were used, which are the whitest roses you can get.

When I came to see Lisa I discussed the idea of having both detachable sleeves and overskirt to create a ‘2nd look’ after the ceremony. We decided on a corded lace for the bodice with a satin mikado trumpet shaped skirt and full ballgown overskirt.

My veil was my something ‘borrowed’ from one of my married bridesmaids. I had sent a photo of me, as a bridesmaid ‘wearing’ it on her wedding day to Max, when we first started dating. Little did he know that he’d be seeing that same veil again on our own wedding day!

Max and I met at work and are still colleagues, having our boss there was pretty unique! Instead of a cake we had a tier of brownies & cookies from Lockdown Bakehouse (@lockdownbakehouselondon) and instead of cutting it, we did an Espresso martini tower, pouring the last martini before our first dance.

We had a singer throughout the entire meal, who went round and got people up and singing, including the bride! It was very much a party vibe throughout the day. We had a saxophonist as well who was also our MC. Our speeches were done by my dad, Max (husband), Best Man, and my brother which was very special.
